A session brings Tarek Atia together with a small group of participants who make books by hand, guided through the process rather than watching one made for them. The montages on this page are cut from footage of real sessions, combining Tarek talking through the idea with the participants at work.
Why books and hands
Making something you can hold
Making a book by hand slows a room down: cutting, folding and binding give people a reason to sit together and talk while they work. That is the shared thread across the sessions this page is introducing, ahead of bringing them to locations around Cairo.
