Michael Mina

About

Chef, restaurateur and cookbook author. He founded the Mina Group, which operates more than 40 restaurants, and his namesake restaurants in San Francisco and Las Vegas each hold a Michelin star. Born in Cairo in 1969, he immigrated to the United States as a child and grew up in Ellensburg, Washington, where he started working in a French kitchen at 16. His second cookbook, My Egypt: Cooking from My Roots (2024), returns to the food he was born into, and in 2018 his flagship restaurant shifted its menus toward Middle Eastern cooking.
