About
Groppi's Talaat Harb Square branch opened in 1924, the best-known outlet of a chocolate and cafe business the Swiss confectioner Giacomo Groppi started in Egypt in the 1890s. Its art deco interior and garden stage have appeared in Egyptian films including The Yacoubian Building, and the cafe reopened to the public in 2018 after a renovation.
