60,000 Medical Masks of Unknown Origin and Quantities of Disinfectants Seized Before Sale on the Black Market

The executive authorities in Cairo Governorate and the Sayeda Zeinab Supply Administration, in coordination with the Supply Investigations Department, seized a shop and warehouse containing large quantities of disinfectants and masks stored for sale on the black market. A misdemeanor report numbered 2590 Sayeda Zeinab Misdemeanors was filed, and 10,000 medical masks, 500 1000-milliliter bottles of hand sanitizer, and 50,000 masks of unknown origin were confiscated. All legal procedures were taken against the violation. Quantities of disinfectants and sterilization supplies were also seized, including ١٥٠ ٧٥-milliliter bottles of hand gel hand sanitizer of unknown origin and ٢٠٠ ٥٠-milliliter bottles of Dettol without invoices. All legal procedures were taken.

The campaign was carried out following instructions from Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal to the Director of the Supply Directorate to promptly conduct campaigns targeting markets and public shops through the supply administrations and the Internal Trade Administration, in order to control prices and prevent traders from monopolizing or concealing goods with the intention of unjustifiably raising their prices, in coordination with district heads and the relevant authorities.

The Cairo governor instructed all executive bodies to continue launching campaigns to prevent commercial fraud, combat the black market, verify the safety of products on display, and take all necessary legal measures against violators to protect citizens’ safety and health.
