Inside Umm Kulthum’s tomb there is a luxurious salon for receiving guests. The Lady of Arab Song furnished this salon to receive mourners for her mother, whose remains were transferred here when construction of the tomb was completed. Umm Kulthum had decided years before her death to build this tomb as her final resting place. The Lady of Arab Song furnished this salon to receive mourners for her mother, whose remains were transferred here when construction of the tomb was completed. Umm Kulthum had decided years before her death to build this tomb as her final resting place.
On the wall behind the salon there is a poem by Ahmed Rami dedicated to Umm Kulthum, a complete Quran written on a single sheet of paper, a letter from the writer Dr. Nemat Ahmed Fouad, and two letters from El-Desouky Ibrahim, her niece’s son (who is also buried in the same place).
Umm Kulthum’s tomb is a destination for her admirers, who come here from all over the world to bid her farewell.
