About
Shepheard's Hotel was founded in 1841 in Azbakeya and burned down in the Cairo fire of January 1952; the present building opened in 1957 on the Corniche in Garden City. It has been closed to guests since 2014, and has been under restoration since 2020, with Mandarin Oriental appointed to operate the 276-room hotel when it reopens as the Mandarin Oriental Shepheard.
