About
Founded on 7 March 1953 by Dominican friars Georges Chehata Anawati, Jacques Jomier and Serge de Beaurecueil, the Dominican Institute for Oriental Studies (IDEO) in Abbassia is a research centre dedicated to Islamic intellectual heritage. Its library, BIDEO, holds close to 300,000 bibliographic records and is described as the largest private library in the world devoted to Islamic studies.
